The athlete, a ex- number one, has had a torrid season, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - led to him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Now working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought three-set triumph over challenger Moutet.

It is his first championship since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface since March of the previous year.

The win also means he has secured 21 titles at 21 distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a trophy is particularly special," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, comprising in Halle earlier this year.

His defensive play style and recurring reactions on court had caused some to question if his ability to compete at the top level was finished.

But the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and compete positively, supported by an better serving game.

The champion recovered from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, winning four of the final five points to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to push for a final set.

Moutet rescued four initial chances in a tight third set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured the title with a point at the net area, with his opponent incapable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
